Enhance programming and spaces at Hart House

Hart House Renewal will make our beloved student centre for arts, dialogue, and wellness even more welcoming and physically accessible.

In the grassy courtyard of Hart House, on a sunny day, four people sit cross-legged on yoga mats.

In these challenging times, welcoming spaces that foster community and engender a shared sense of purpose are more important than ever. Hart House is just such a place. For more than a century, it has been a space on campus where students—as well as faculty, staff, alumni, and members of the broader community—find unique ways to connect with one another and the world at large through engagement with the arts, dialogue, and wellness.

I want us to be a place that encourages kindness and patience and compassion, where students develop or enhance the impulse to give back to the world.

John Monahan, Warden of Hart House

Today, Hart House is particularly focused on engaging long underrepresented communities, including Indigenous, newcomer, international, racialized, and LGBTQ+ students through innovative initiatives such as the Youth Access Program, Hart House Global Commons, and the ever-popular Hart House Hip Hop Education.

With your support, Hart House Renewal will increase student and community engagement by expanding cutting-edge programming, strengthening community partnerships and experiential learning, updating and revitalizing iconic spaces, and continuing to make Hart House even more welcoming and physically accessible for all.
